Battery Disclaimer

IMPORTANT WARNING AND BATTERY DISCLAIMER

This is our Battery Desclamer at Just Airsoft Guns.

IMPORTANT!!! READ MANUAL in its entirety before use. Take proper precautions when handling Lithium-ion (Li-ion)/Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries, as they are different than NiMH or NiCd batteries! Failure to follow these instructions can result in severe or permanent damage to the battery, cause serious personal injury, or lead to fire.

If you are unclear about any of the following information we strongly recommend that you stick with NiCd battery packs and charges as they are much more stable. We still highly recommend you use a smart charger that has a cut-off when the battery is charged. Never leave a charging battery unattended.

Thank you for purchasing a Lithium-ion (Li-ion)/Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery. By purchasing this product, the buyer/user agrees that he/she has read and understood the safety precautions on this page, that he/she bears full responsibilities for these risks, and does not hold Just Airsoft Guns or its distributors responsible for any accidents, injury to persons, or property damage that may occur. Damage from misuse or modifications will void your warranty and can cause serious injury.

GENERAL SAFETY GUIDELINES

NEVER use a NiCd/NiMH charger to charge Li-ion/LiPo batteries. Use a charger designed for charging LiPo/Li-ion batteries only.

ALWAYS inspect the battery to ensure there are no signs of damage, deformity, or swelling before charging. If there are, do not continue charging the battery, and follow the proper procedures to dispose of the battery.

ALWAYS charge batteries in a fireproof container and away from combustible material. Do not charge on surfaces that can catch fire – this includes, but is not limited to; wood, cloth, carpet, or in the application’s device.

NEVER charge batteries unattended. Always remain in constant observation of the charging process & react to potential problems that may occur.

NEVER charge a deformed, swollen, or ballooned battery. Continuing to charge a battery that has begun to swell will result in a fire. Follow these steps:

  • STOP the charging process by unplugging the charger, and disconnect the battery from it immediately
  • Disconnect battery from the device immediately
  • Place it in an open non-flammable area
  • Watch it for approx. 30 minutes from a safe distance
  • Follow proper procedure to dispose of the battery

NEVER allow the battery’s positive and negative leads to touch.

If for any reason you need to cut the terminal wires of an assembled Li-ion/LiPo battery pack, it will be necessary to cut each wire separately, ensuring the wires do not touch each other or a short may occur.

Store Li-ion batteries in a cool, dry place between 40-80° F.

NEVER store Li-ion/LiPo batteries in any locations that can exceed these temperatures such as a vehicle, garage, or in the sun.

Keep your batteries out of reach of children and pets.

Avoid over-discharging Li-ion/LiPo batteries. Over-discharging a Li-ion/LiPo battery, or continuing to use the battery even after it is fully depleted (e.g. when it is below its minimum voltage level), can cause permanent damage to your battery. While you’re not able to visibly detect the internal damage to the battery, it can eventually cause a fire when attempting to re-charge at a later time. To avoid over-discharging your battery, please make sure that your charger has a built-in protection circuit board (PCB). A standard PCB offers 4 major protective functions, namely, protection against over-charging, over-discharging, short-circuit, and over-current.

CHARGING BATTERY

Caution – Before Charging

Visually inspect your Li-ion/LiPo battery for any damaged leads, connectors, shrink wrap, swelling of cells, or other irregularities.

If you find any of the above issues with your pack, stop using it at once.

Check the voltage on the battery label and make sure it matches what is required by the device it powers, or that it matches an older battery you are replacing.

Charging LiPo Batteries

NEVER leave batteries charging unattended.

Always remain in constant observation of the charging process and react to potential problems that may occur.

Only charge batteries in a fireproof location. Never charge on wooden surfaces, cloth, carpet, or on any materials that can catch fire.

Allow the battery to cool down to ambient temperature before charging.

Do not charge multiple battery packs simultaneously by connecting them in series. Charge each battery pack individually. Failure to do so may result in incorrect battery recognition and charging functions. Overcharging may occur and result in fire.

When using a battery charger that can support multiple voltage outputs, select the cell count and voltage as it appears on the Li-ion/LiPo battery label. Selecting a cell count or voltage other than the one printed on the label will cause improper charging rates that can lead to fire.

As a safety precaution, confirm the information printed on the battery is correct.
· Example: The label on a 2-Cell battery pack in series will read – “7.4V” – You must select 2-Cell for charging.
· Example: The label on a 3-Cell battery pack in series will read – “11.1V” – You must select 3-Cell for charging.

In most cases, the charger’s charging current should not exceed 1C, unless otherwise noted. A higher setting may damage the battery and cause a fire. C-rating is a standard that defines a battery’s operating current based on its capacity. 1C is the current it takes to approximately fully discharge a battery in 1 hour, and is simply defined by dropping the “h” in the pack’s capacity (e.g. 1C for a 1000mAh LiPo battery is 1000mA, or 1A).

BATTERY DISCLAIMER ADDITIONAL NOTES:

Some Li-ion/LiPo chargers in the market may contain insufficient or incorrect information regarding the battery packs they are designed for. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the charger purchased is compatible with your battery.

BATTERY MAINTENANCE AND HANDLING

Never disassemble existing Li-ion/LiPo battery packs to mix with other Li-ion/LiPo cells/packs.

Only charge your Li-ion/LiPo battery with good quality, dedicated Li-ion/LiPo charger. A poor-quality charger may not be able to charge or protect your battery properly and can be dangerous.

Do not discharge the battery to a level below 3V per cell under load. Deep discharge below 3V per cell can deteriorate battery performance.

OPERATING TEMPERATURES

Charge: 32 to 113°F

Discharge: 32 to 140°F

Let the battery cool down to ambient temperature before charging.

During discharge and handling of batteries, do not exceed 160°F.

LIPO BATTERY REVERSED POLARITY PROBLEM

Airsoft batteries and chargers have a reversed polarity to RC batteries or most other use batteries.

It is your (the consumer) responsibility to confirm that the + RED wires in the Tamiya plug connect with the + RED wire on the battery side of the plug.

Connecting + RED to the – BLACK will create problems and result in a fire!

STORANGE AND TRANSPORTATION

Never store batteries near an open flame or heater.

Store battery at room temperature between 40 and 80°F for best results.

Do not expose the battery pack to direct sunlight (heat) for extended periods of time

When transporting or temporarily storing in a vehicle, the temperature range should be greater than 20 °F but no more than 150°F.

Storing a battery at a temperature greater than 170°F for extended periods of time (more than 2 hours) may cause damage to the battery and possible fire.

For long-term storage, do not store them fully charged; it is recommended to fully charge and then discharge them to 50-60% of their capacity.

BATTERY LIFE & DISPOSAL OF LIPO BATTERIES

Rechargeable Li-ion/LiPo batteries do not last indefinitely. Batteries that have lost 20% of their initial capacity should be removed from service and disposed of properly.

If at any time you detect any physical damage to a Li-ion/LiPo battery such as swollen cell, split, battery leak, or tear in the LiPo cell’s foil covering, STOP and do not continue discharging the battery.

PROPER DISPOSAL OF LI-ION/LIPO BATTERIES

Regulations and laws pertaining to the recycling and disposal of Li-ion/LiPo batteries vary from country to country as well as by state and local governments. You should check the laws and regulations where you live.

Many facilities recycle Li-ion/LiPo batteries. The Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation’s website, www.rbrc.org, is an excellent source for finding a facility to handle these types of batteries. If you are not sure if your waste facility can handle Li-ion/LiPo batteries, contact them and verify if they are permitted or not.

Remember that before any type of disposal, the batteries should be discharged completely. Tape the contacts with electrical tape and package so as to prevent contacts accidentally coming together at any time
For home disposal, many stores offer free recycling of rechargeable batteries. If no outlet is available in your area, it is safe to dispose of these batteries in your regular trash. As always, check with your local laws to make sure that this is acceptable.
